Protect expensive equipment by actuating alarms, indicators, or even shutting down a system when flow rate is improper. GEMS flow switches measure "true" liquid flow; they do not infer it, and so are unaffected by pressure fluctuation. A broad range of configurations are available for liquids and gases with switch actuation points preset at flow rates from 50 cc/min. to 100 GPM (378 l/m). They are shock- and vibration-resistant.

Four basic operating principles are used to suit different applications. Shuttle models for high flow rates; Piston types for low flow rates; Paddle for large line sizes; and RotorFlow® Switches and Sensors that encompass state-of-the-art electronics and positive visual indication.

Piston Type - Highly reliable and precision calibrated for liquids or gases. Fixed setpoints range from a low 50cc/min to 1.5 GPM (6 l/m); adjustable version feature setting of 0.5 to 20 GPM (2 to 76 l/m). Special capability versions offer viscosity compensation, and high pressure handling to 1,500 PSIG (103 bar). Brass or stainless steel bodies.

Examples:

 

HPF-920 Series - Inline brass switches for high pressures to 1500 PSIG. 1/2 inch (13 mm) male ports; 0.5 to 3.0 GPM (2 to 11 l/m) setpoints.
FS-10798 Series - This unit is externally adjustable, allowing change of switch actuation setpoint with unit installed in line. Brass or stainless steel bodies, 1/2 inch (13 mm) ports. Infinitely adjustable setpoints between 0.5 to 20.0 GPM (2 to 76 l/m).

Shuttle Type - For monitoring water and oil in line sizes 1" through 3" (2.5 mm to 76 mm). Accurate with 1% repeatability and low pressure drop. Bronze or stainless steel housings. Fixed settings from 0.5 to 100 GPM (2 to 378 l/m); adjustable settings from 0.75 to 15 GPM (3 to 57 l/m).
Paddle Type - Flow/No-Flow detection for pipe with
1 inch (25 mm) diameter and up. Paddles are
cut to length for desired actuation
setting from 1" to 5-1/2" (25 to 140 mm).
Cam action: paddle pivots to move out
of liquid pat with increasing flow
for low pressure drop.
